August 2011 – Amyna Visram

As a freshman, Amyna was unable to make it to tryouts and was not scared in the least to email the President of our organization to see if there was any way that she could get another opportunity to be part of the Illinois Trial Team. Most people would have just skipped out on the organization or been beating themselves up about it. Amyna, unlike most people, took the initiative and showed strong determination, which exemplifies what the Illinois Trial Team is all about.

She jumped into planning the Illini Invitational and has been reaching out to so many schools in such a short period of time. It’s really impressive to see a young team member take on so much responsibility so fast!

In addition to her upbeat personality, and incredibly adorable laugh, she is one of the fiercest competitors on our organization.

She stepped in after only having been on the team for 2 days and created one of the best closings our coaches had ever heard!

Coming in as a freshman, she was more than willing to take on any challenges and be a strong leader. Her hard work and dedication showed through her success in the courtroom as well as in practices.

At every meeting Amyna would come with brilliant ideas and a bright smile ready to improve her and the team’s performance. She was not only an exemplary teammate but also a loyal friend to all her fellow mockers.

She accomplished so much her first year on the team and we are so excited to see all her future successes!

She is the sweetest person in the world until you get her in the courtroom and then beware, because she is definitely a little fireball when she’s cross examining you.

As a sophomore she is taking on a huge responsibility in being the Tournament Chair for the 4th Annual Illini Invitational. She is the youngest member to ever take on such an enormous responsibility and we know that this will be the best tournament yet!
