February 2012

Katy Karayannis is February’s Mocker of the Month. Congratulations!

Katy is a freshman majoring in Political Science. She hopes to go to law school and then go back to Kane County and practice law with her family. She joined mock trial as a freshmen in HS and she has been hooked ever since, so doing mock trial in college was a top priority for Katy. Katy loves all of the friendships that she has made through mock trial, the jokes we have as a team and she loves the competitions. Her favorite memory, if she had to choose one, was the car ride to and from OSU. Katy has won an attorney award at the University of St. Francis and Loras University. She also won a witness award as Officer Foster at the University of St. Francis. We could not be prouder to have Katy as part of our organization and she will clearly be making a HUGE impact on the Illinois Trial Team for three more years!

Katy Karayannis is a nightmare for opposing counsels everywhere. She’s tenacious, prepared, and quick to respond to whatever is thrown her way. As an opener for the Defense, she’s an incredible addition to the team. Her opening makes Danny Dawson sound like a human being, not a cold-blooded murder. Her Roman direct is the embodiment of professionalism even when she is fighting back laughter at her witness’s ridiculousness. Her crosses make witnesses quiver in fear. Katy doesn’t miss a beat, keeping her teammates on their toes, and going above and beyond whatever is asked of her. Katy’s passion for mock trial makes Orange a better team and I can only begin to imagine what she will be capable of in the coming years. I’m so glad that I can be a part of her rise to the top of the mock trial world.
